Dracaena fragrans Massangeana is also called the corn plant or the Happy Plant because of it's easy care nature and the zesty freshness of the yellow and green strappy leaves that brighten up home or office interiors, whilst filtering toxins from the atmosphere so you breathe easier.
Less is more! The thick stems on this plant store excess water. Overwatering will cause them to go brown and mushy, paired with yellowing of lower leaves.
Rough Round the Edges! Brown leaf margins is often a symptom of too much fertiliser. If you don’t fertilise it could be the fluoride in the water. Fix it with filtered water.
Too dry for too long! Not watering often enough will cause the tips to turn brown. If you are watering often, the issue is the humidity. Time to start spraying.
Dracaena Massangeana needs moderate to bright indirect light and is ideal for offices or fluorescent lighting. Avoid direct sunlight as this may burn or bleach the leaves.
Water when the soil starts to dry-out at the top. Water well and allow to drain thoroughly. Relatively drought tolerant. Do not overwater as this will cause the leaf tips to blacken.
Fragrans Massangeana prefers average household temperatures between 16-24°C but can cope with as low as 12°C for short periods.
Dracaena are hardy houseplants and will do well in normal room humidity, however they do prefer higher humidity and will benefit from occasional misting.
Apply a weak dose of a fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing season.
The Dracaena Massangeana is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 1.5 to 2 metres.
Please note: each plant is unique so available heights are approximate and the plant you receive may vary by ±10%
The sap of the Dracaena fragrans is toxic to animals. It is not considered poisonous to humans but should not be ingested.
This plant filters airborne toxins such as benzene and formaldehyde and is part of our clean air plant collection.
Like most Dracaena, the fragrans 'Massangeana' variety originates from tropical Africa.
